Former England international Gary Lineker has suggested that Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso could possibly replace Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in the future.
The Merseysiders have been one of the finest teams in the PL for the last decade winning almost every major title in Europe.
And most of the club’s success can be credited to manager Jurgen Klopp who has guided and mentored the team.
But after a disappointing last season, there were shouts of sacking the German manager. But to everyone’s surprise, the Reds have bounced back to challenging for the title with a midfield rebuild this summer.
But while the talks of replacing Klopp were going on, there were a few names that were frequently popping up. And Xabi Alonso was one of them.
Xabi Alonso might replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool
While speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast Lineker suggested the Bayer Leverkusen boss could replace Klopp. He said,
“I would think there is every chance that once Carlo Ancelotti walks away or is pushed out, as is often the case at Real Madrid, he might end up there as manager of a certain Jude Bellingham.
Or he could also possibly follow Klopp down the line. These things you always do!”
The Spanish manager is currently doing a great job in the Bundesliga as Bayer Leverkusen sits at the top of the points table.
The German club has won 9 matches and drawn only once having played 10 games. They are two points clear of defending champions Bayern Munich.
The possibilities for Alonso are never ending as he has already shown his capabilities at such an early stage of his managerial career. He could possibly replace Carlo Ancelotti who will leave Real Madrid in summer 2024.
Even if he does not replace Ancelotti, he can most certainly replace Klopp in the future.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
