Chris Sutton has stated that he is starting to rate Liverpool player, Ibrahima Konate after a decent start to the season for the Reds.
The Frenchman has been a mixed bag for the Reds since signing for them in 2017. Although he had a great first season at Anfield, he hasn’t been performing to his maximum potential lately.
The defender made a few notable and costly mistakes last time as the Reds finished outside the top 4 last season. But this hasn’t been the case this time as Liverpool and Konate have been in top-form.
Chris Sutton praises Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate
Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton spoke about Liverpool’s return to prominence and their defensive resilience this season.
“Van Dijk if he wasn’t a centre-back people would be talking about him for a Ballon d’Or again, he’s been absolutely unbelievable this season Van Dijk.
What about Konate alongside him? He’s really growing on me Konate.”
It doesn’t come as a surprise to hear the pundit claiming to like Konate. The Frenchman has been maturing into a good player under Klopp.
Although he was initially only reliant on his physical attributes, he has now become a complete defender.
He is getting better on the ball and is becoming much more organized as a defender. He holds the defensive line well and is reading the game much better.
Last season, Konate looked off his game, but now, he’s back to his best and looking better than ever before.
The same could be said for many of the Liverpool players as well. The Reds finished outside the top 4 and exited every cup competition in the early stages.
However, Liverpool have a fantastic defensive record in the Premier League this season. Moreover, Konate has played a huge part in helping Klopp achieve the same.
