The Opta supercomputer has predicted the chances of Liverpool winning the league title following their dominant 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp’s side restored their 5-point lead at the top of the table with a victory against the Cherries.
Although their main man, Mo Salah, was unavailable, the Reds cruised towards a comfortable victory at the Vitality Stadium.
Moreover, champions Manchester City still have a game in their hand as they sit second in the table. With both sides’ history, Liverpool fans know that a commanding lead of 5 points is not sufficient to win the title over Pep’s side.
After the domestic cup competitions, the Merseysiders would face Chelsea at Anfield on the final day of January. Moreover, they travel to the Emirates soon after to face Arsenal in February.
Opta supercomputer predicts chances of Liverpool winning the title
Amidst these crunching fixtures, Opta supercomputer has predicted Liverpool’s chances of going all the way. The AI does not fancy Liverpool to win the title.
It has given Liverpool a 36.6% chance of winning the league, while the treble winners, Manchester City are seen as favorites with a huge 59.7% chance of regaining their crown.
After coming close last time out, Arsenal’s odds have dropped to 2.5%. Meanwhile, the surprise package, Aston Villa have a 1.0% chance of the title.
The new-look Tottenham have a 0.2% chance and these are the only sides technical;ly in the title picture as per Opta.
To every Liverpool fan’s dismay, Liverpool are not considered title favorites. The Reds are most likely to finish second with AI saying they have a 47.6% chance.
Moreover, they have a 12.0% chance of finishing third and a 3.0% chance of finishing fourth.
There is an incredibly slim possibility that Liverpool finish outside the top four with a 0.8% chance. Meanwhile, there is seemingly no chance of the Reds ending up lower than sixth.
However, every football fan knows that the sport doesn’t have anything to do with AI. Moreover, the Reds had an even slimmer chance of winning the league on Christmas Eve with a 22.2% chance.
With a significant increase in the chances, the Reds just need to keep up their obvious form.
