Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their interest in Genk midfielder, Bilal El Khannouss, inviting his agent for talks over a possible move.
The Moroccan has been a priority target for Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid this January window.
However, as per reports coming from Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, the player’s agent, Karima Ben Aissa, who is also his mother, has been “invited” by several clubs, including Liverpool, to discuss a potential move.
“We’re in contact with a few clubs. Playing minutes take precedence.”
His mother said.

The 19-year-old is tied down to the Belgian side till 2027 and has scored thrice so far while having 3 assists in 20 appearances in the league so far this season.
The Belgian-born midfielder plays through the middle but has also featured on the left-hand side.
Moreover, there have been many reports suggesting that the Reds have been interested in the player since last year.
Additionally, they have been reported to have sent scouts to watch the teenager in action this season.
However, the Reds aren’t alone in the Moroccan’s pursuit. They face competition from Atletico Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.
But the Spanish side in particular have been lining up a move for the player this January. As per reports from Spain, Atletico have identified Bilal as one of the 3 prime targets for this window.
Despite being only 19, the midfielder is already a full international with the Moroccan national team. He made his debut with the national team at the World Cup 2022 third-place playoff defeat to Croatia.

A Genk midfield talent
El Khannouss was awarded the Belgian Golden Shoe for the best young talent playing in the country back in 2022.
Meanwhile, he was nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award which was eventually won by Jude Bellingham last year.
Moreover, Genk director Dimitri De Conde told HLN how much he values the player. He stated,
“I have always said to Bilal and his entourage that we believe he should become the most expensive outgoing transfer in Belgian football.”
