Brighton are now sure that long-time Liverpool and Chelsea target Moises Caicedo will not be leaving the club this summer.
The Reds are undergoing a massive midfield rebuild this summer. The early addition of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to the team has been the positive side of the rebuild.
And as the new season is almost at the threshold, the Merseysiders still await the signing of Romeo Lavia. Also, several other midfielders have been linked with the club.
However, the latest update on Mac Allister’s former teammate and a long-time target of the Anfield giants has arrived which is shocking.
Liverpool will miss out on Moises Caicedo as he is staying at Brighton
As per a Sky Sports journalist, Brighton are expecting to retain Moises Caicedo for the next season. He stated,
“Brighton say they’re not expecting any club to match their valuation of Moises Caicedo this transfer window.
The valuation of the midfielder is £100m, or upwards. Yesterday [Wednesday] it emerged that an unnamed club approached Brighton about a deal for Caceido.
It’s understood that Brighton have been impressed with his attitude while speculation over his future intensifies.
Chelsea’s latest bid of £80m fell well short of what Brighton were asking for and it was rejected immediately by the club.
However, one source says they expect Chelsea to go back in with an improved bid.”
Caicedo has been on the wanted list of Liverpool since the beginning of the transfer market.
Recently, former Reds midfielder Don Hutchinson even commented that the 21-year-old could help the club win another PL title.
Chelsea have also been a potential suitor for the Ecuadorian midfielder. However, his price tag is a thing of concern for all of the interested parties.
As Declan Rice joined Arsenal for £105M, the Seagulls also feel like they should get at least £100M for the youngster. But the major issue is there were Manchester City and Arsenal as the two willing bidders.
Whereas, for Caicedo, Chelsea are the only active pursuers. And they are not willing to pay the behemoth amount of fee for the Ecuadorian international.
Caicedo would have been a great addition to this Liverpool side considering their defensive-midfield situation.
However, at this price tag, the Merseysiders can easily purchase two midfielders which is much needed at the moment.
