Arne Slot ‘Wild’ To Sign Dutch Attacker To Bolster Liverpool Attack: Transfer Update

Incoming Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is ‘wild’ about signing Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville this summer.

The Reds are destined for some major changes this summer with the departure of Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot’s appointment as the new head coach.

The backroom of LFC will also go through some changes as Michael Edwards has taken over as CEO of football and Richard Hughes will soon be joining as the new sporting director.

The Edwards-HughesSlot trio will be in charge of deciding the fate of the club and the necessary steps taken by them will shape the future of the Merseysiders in the post-Klopp era.

The incoming Dutchman has already joined the conversations of some crucial changes within the team. The impending exits of a few players have sparked some new rumours regarding who the Anfield side will sign.

Liverpool And Slot Want Crysencio Summerville

The speculated departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have prompted the Merseyside giants to consider some attacking options for the summer signing.

Recently journalist Ben Jacobs shared some updates on this regard. Jacobs stated,

“Crysencio Summerville is a target. Of course, from Leeds’ position and from his position, both the club and the player are simply waiting to see whether Leeds go up. If Leeds don’t go up, then they’re going to be braced for offers for Summerville, who’s had a magnificent season. Of course, there will be interest and Liverpool are one of the clubs looking at Summerville. If Leeds get promoted, let’s see what the player thinks and obviously Leeds will be in a much stronger position to negotiate.”

As confirmed by Ben Jacobs, Summerville will stay at Leeds if they secure PL promotion. Considering their position, as the Whites finished third in the Championship, that possibility will increase if they win in the playoffs.

The Dutch winger’s exceptional form this season as he scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions, has attracted the eyes of Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspurs, and Newcastle United (stats correct as of 10.05.24) (stats via Transfermarkt).

Even though the 22-year-old came through the youth ranks of Feyenoord and was there till 2020, Summerville did not have the opportunity to play under Slot’s management as he joined the Dutch giants in 2021.

Apparently, the former AZ Alkmaar manager is ‘wild’ about his Dutch compatriot. This adds to the eagerness of the Reds to consider signing the Championship winger.

The summer transfer window without any doubt will be entertaining to keep an eye on. Whether Liverpool sign Summerville is still a mystery which will unfold in the coming days.
