Tottenham and Liverpool are set to clash this weekend in what promises to be an exciting match, with plenty of attacking prowess on display.
However, Spurs will be without one of their promising young forwards, Brennan Johnson, as confirmed by manager Ange Postecoglou in a video posted on the club’s social media.
Postecoglou delivered the unfortunate news about Johnson, stating,
“Brennan will miss out this week, it’s nothing too serious but enough to keep him out this week,”
Said Postecoglou.
It’s disappointing news for Spurs, as Johnson’s absence deprives them of an exciting attacking option.
Tottenham Hotspur’s correspondent on Johnson not playing against Liverpool
Johnson’s absence against Liverpool is not entirely surprising, given that Alasdair Gold mentioned on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast that the £50 million winger had a recent hamstring scan.
This suggests that a hamstring issue is the reason behind his absence, though it appears to be a precautionary measure.
Gold expressed optimism, saying,
“The same with Brennan Johnson. He had a precautionary scan in the middle of this week to check how things are doing. From what I understand it was very much precautionary. Hopefully with him it was just a tight hamstring, whether they don’t take the risk and start him, maybe they put him on the bench, but I would love to see him in full flight going at that Liverpool defence, especially at home,”
Gold said.
Hamstring injuries can be tricky, particularly for players who rely on their speed, but Postecoglou’s reassurance suggests that Johnson’s situation isn’t too serious.
There’s hope that he will make a swift recovery and be available for next week’s game against Luton Town.
Tottenham fans are eager to see Johnson return to action, as he was starting to find his rhythm and make an impact for the team before this injury setback.
