Two names, Leroy Sane and Federico Chiesa, have been identified as potential candidates to replace Mo Salah if he leaves Liverpool to join a Saudi club.
Saudi Arabian reports have continued to claim that Salah is in talks with a Pro League club about a possible move.
These reports have been circulating despite the player’s agent, Ramy Abbas denying any possibility of leaving.
However, with Salah being over 30 and with two years left on his contract, there might be legit questions raised about his long-term Liverpool future.
Moreover, with the money that Saudi could potentially pay for his signature, there might be second thoughts as well.
Sane and Chiesa are tipped to join Liverpool if Salah leaves
There have been reports that Liverpool have been shortlisting Leroy Sane and Federico Chiesa, should Salah decide to leave.
Although the player’s agent has publicly said that his client wouldn’t be leaving the club, the Saudi clubs are confident of signing Salah.
Moreover, Fabrizio has also claimed that Liverpool have told the Saudi club that the Egyptian isn’t for sale.
He went on to say that the only way that we could see Salah leave the club is if he forces a move to the Saudi Pro League.
Meanwhile, the Reds are looking at potential candidates to replace their three-time Golden Boot winner.
Chiesa’s Juve contract is set to expire in 2025 and has long been linked to a Premier League move. Liverpool haven’t been the only interested candidates with Tottenham, Newcastle, and Man Utd all being linked with him.
Meanwhile, Sane’s Bayern contract will also end in 2025, and is already 27 years old. He would probably be a bit too old for the Liverpool recruitment strategy.
Chiesa, though younger, has struggled with injuries and form recently and scored just twice in Serie A in 2022/23.
The Reds to sign either of them this January?
The reports have said that Liverpool would go for either of the players which is likely to happen in January or the next summer.
However, there are doubts whether either of them could replicate the Egyptian’s legacy at Anfield.
However, very few wingers could replace the amazing tally of the Egyptian for the Reds. Replacing his attacking output will be a challenge for any new signing.
Moreover, other than the obvious candidates, the Reds have an exciting Scottish teenager Ben Doak waiting in the wings. There is a chance that he could develop into a top talent.
Moreover, Fabio Carvalho has also been loaned out to RB Leipzig for this season. There is a possibility that he could step up and deliver for Klopp’s team.
