In the latest report, it has been rumored that Liverpool have reignited their interest to sign Jude Bellingham, after previously considering Dortmund’s fee to be ‘expensive’.
Until recently, the club decided that they would not pursue a move for the midfielder. The reason behind pulling out of the race was quite clear, the asking price of around £130 million, which was considered to be too expensive.
After internal talks, Liverpool had decided that the fee Bellingham would cost likely more than £100 million, which wasn’t viable this summer. FSG told Klopp that it would be better to spend that amount on a number of players.
But now it appears that the Merseyside club has re-entered the race to sign the 19-year-old.
After Liverpool reportedly pulled out of the race, it left the other competitors a better chance to sign the midfielder. The likes of Man City, Utd, and Real Madrid became the frontrunners in signing the Englishman.
However, Bellingham also has a contract offer on the table from Dortmund to extend his stay in Germany. Besides, the England international has not ruled out signing it and staying at Dortmund.
Liverpool still chasing Bellingham?
It is no doubt that Bellingham has been a top transfer target for Liverpool for a long time now. However, after reports that Liverpool would no longer be chasing the midfielder, it was seen as a dead end.
But, Liverpool fans are now given hope as Football Insider has reported that Liverpool would re-enter the race to sign him if the Englishman chooses to stay in Germany the next season.
The Reds would be less concerned about finances if they qualified for the Champions League next season. Also, they understand it would put them in a stronger negotiating position to lure Bellingham to Anfield.
However, Klopp is still eager to improve his midfield this summer. Moreover, sources have revealed that the club have shortlisted five potential midfield signings.
Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Joao Palhinha, Nicolo Barella, and Alexis Mac Allister are all targets for Liverpool.
It was seen as an end to all the drama of Jude Bellingham and Liverpool. However, it has now taken a new twist and the transfer saga still continues.
