FSG have reportedly told Liverpool’s boss that the club’s resources should be spent somewhere else instead of spending on Jude Bellingham. The package of nearly £135m is now deemed to be ‘too expensive’.

Moreover, Klopp seems to be on board with the decision and help Liverpool focus on alternative targets. As per The Guardian, FSG have informed that the cost of signing the England international would restrict the planned overhaul of Klopp’s squad.

Bellingham has been a long-time target for the Reds and it was even reported that they were one of the favorites to sign the Englishman. But as things stand, the Merseysiders are no longer interested in the race to sign the 19-year-old.

Dortmund believes a price of £135m plus add-ons would do justice to the 19-year-old who is wanted by many European clubs.

The midfielder has been impressive for both club and country. In the recent World Cup, he was one of the standout players for Southgate. Since joining Dortmund in 2020, his value has been on the rise.

He is currently valued at more than £183m, according to International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES). However, Dortmund have reportedly set the asking price at around £135m plus add-ons.

Liverpool pull out of the Bellingham race

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Merseyside club have cooled their interest to sign the Englishman. The reason has been reported to be a high asking price from Dortmund (£135m plus add-ons).

FSG have reportedly told Klopp that the transfer sum for Bellingham would be too high. With Klopp set to sign more than one midfielder this summer for the overhaul, the resources would be restricted.

With Bellingham out of the question, the Reds need to sign 2-3 midfielders who could be regular starters for them. Moreover, Liverpool are also in the race to sign a few midfielders like Mount, Nunes, Gravenberch, and Mac Allister to name a few.

Liverpool have had a season to forget as they sit in 8th place, 12 points off the top 4. Since Liverpool have exited all competitions, they are now focused on securing UCL football for next season.

It is evident that the decision by FSG would not be taken well by the Liverpool supporters as he has been deemed to be a long-term midfield solution. It is now to be seen who Klopp would target for his midfield next season.
