As per Football Insider, Liverpool have made a shortlist of 5 midfield targets after pulling out of the race for Jude Bellingham.
Ever since ending their pursuit of the 19-year-old midfielder, Klopp and his team have been actively scouting for players to fill in the midfield position. With a number of midfielders leaving the club this summer, it is evident that Klopp needs to strengthen the particular position for the next season.
It is understood that Mount, Gallagher, Mac Allister, Palhinha, and Barella are the five players that are on Liverpool’s shopping list for this summer.
The midfield options on radar of Liverpool
However, Moises Caicedo is also admired by the Liverpool board and is one of the names that seem to be on their transfer list. But, it is reported that Brighton have set the asking price to be around £75 million for the Ecuadorian.
Moreover, now Liverpool views his teammate, Mac Allister, as their first choice target. Following Bellingham’s dropped pursuit, the Reds now find the Argentine a cheaper option.
Furthermore, according to sources, Brighton could accept offers of £60 million for the World Cup winner.
Also, the Merseyside club has shown interest in the Chelsea midfield duo, Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher. However, there may be doubts regarding Mount as Lampard has taken over the club till the end of the season. Besides, it was Lampard who gave Mount a breakthrough and made him into the Chelsea star that he is today.
If the Englishman has his contract extended with Chelsea, Liverpool would have to look elsewhere for their midfield.
However, Gallagher could be an alternative for Klopp in his midfield. The 23-year-old impressed in his loan spell at Crystal Palace last season and returned to Chelsea. He has been a consistent player having made 37 appearances in total this season for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Fulham star, Palhinha is seen as a strong defensive midfield option for Klopp. The Portuguese has the most tackles this season in the league and is a strong presence in the midfield.
Lastly, Liverpool have shortlisted Barella who has been one of the best Italian midfielders for quite some time.
Liverpool scouts have thoroughly watched the 26-year-old Italian for some time. Moreover, it is understood that he will push for a move away from the club if Inter does not qualify for the Champions League this season.
