Jude Bellingham has reportedly quit ‘talks’ with the Spanish side while Liverpool have prioritized the signing of the 19-year-old.
The midfielder is being chased by some of the biggest European clubs including Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Man City. His current contract with Dortmund runs till 2025. But it has been heavily reported that the Englishman would be heading out for a new challenge, this summer.
With Dortmund demanding a surplus of £100m for the midfielder, many clubs are monitoring the player’s situation.
Liverpool, however, have reportedly held ‘long-standing confidence’ that they will win the race to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund. The Reds have been working on a deal to recruit Bellingham over the past year. The Englishman remains their number 1 priority this summer.
It had been reported that Los Blancos had the upper hand in signing the midfielder. But now, Nacional has stated that Bellingham has ‘distanced himself from Real Madrid’.
Could Bellingham sign for Liverpool?
It is reported that the player’s family is pressurising him to return to his homeland. The report also adds that they want them to try out his luck in the Premier League.
The Reds currently hold a few advantages over Madrid in signing the Stourbridge-born player, as per football.365.
They could offer Bellingham a ‘guaranteed start’ and a ‘crucial role’ under Klopp. Also, with Klopp looking to freshen up his midfield for the next season, he would have ample playing time.
The Reds are reportedly ready to offer him a ‘higher wage’ to lure him to Anfield. Also, his current value is nearly £140m, which is deemed to be an ‘excess amount’ by Ancelotti’s side.
However, it could be extremely hard for Liverpool to lure him to sign for them if they do not qualify for Europe next season.
More reports regarding the transfer
Moreover, a separate report from journalist Ben Jacobs recently revealed that Liverpool “have ample confidence” that they will sign Bellingham.
While talking to TEAMtalk, Jacobs said that the Reds see ‘Bellingham as a priority’ in midfield.
“Liverpool still see Jude Bellingham as a priority in that midfield and contrary to some reports, Bellingham hasn’t made up his mind. But Liverpool have done a lot of legwork and have a large amount of confidence.
As a result, they haven’t given up and they don’t believe that missing out on Champions League football will necessarily impact things too much because what Liverpool do is give players a consistent narrative.
They always start courting those they want early and developing relationships with the player and their family and their agent. And by having that trust and by having that relationship they believe that they can sell based on the project and the ambition of the club and the manager rather than solely on what they do or don’t have come the end of the season so Bellingham will be a big priority for Liverpool.
They’ll be up against Real Madrid and also Manchester City and some believe that Manchester United especially under new owners might come into the equation as well.
Chelsea are there, they are minor players, they’re certainly not serious contenders at this point.
And the advantage Liverpool have as a Premier League club is they might be able to blow Real Madrid out of the water in terms of the price that they’re prepared to pay.”
