Liverpool fans have come up with a new song to celebrate Dominik Szoboszlai, and the Hungarian midfielder has given it his stamp of approval.
Szoboszlai, who was signed for £60 million from RB Leipzig this summer, has quickly become a favorite among Liverpool supporters, with some even comparing him to the legendary Steven Gerrard after his impressive goal in the Carabao Cup against Leicester.
One enthusiastic Liverpool fan created a new song for Szoboszlai and shared a video of himself playing it on his guitar on social media.
The song is set to the tune of Don McLean’s “American Pie” and goes like this:
“My, my, Dominik Szoboszlai, he comes from Hungary and he’ll make the Reds f****** fly.
Like the gold old days when Bill Shankly was alive, singing this he’s my Dominik Szoboszlai, he’s my Dominik Szoboszlai.”
The song has been well-received by Liverpool fans, and Szoboszlai himself seems to love it too, as he liked the clip of the song on Instagram.
Since joining Jurgen Klopp’s team, the 22-year-old midfielder has scored two goals in eight games and is expected to play a key role in Liverpool’s upcoming match against Tottenham.
Liverpool are also anticipated to benefit from the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold from injury, while Tottenham may be missing three key players who started in the recent North London derby against Arsenal.
Liverpool is my Religion and Anfield is my Church. 17th May 1996 the date I had my blood coloured red. The one you love the most you can not live without it and that is football to me.
