Ryan Gravenberch is a transfer target for Liverpool, and his response after being questioned about a potential summer transfer to Anfield has fueled rumors that he would quit Bayern Munich.
Even though the Bayern Munich midfielder has been quiet on a possible summer move to Anfield, Ryan Gravenberch couldn’t help but smile when asked about transfer interest from Liverpool.
The 20-year-old Gravenberch has become a target for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, who wants to radically overhaul his midfield options before the 2023–24 season.
Ryan Gravenberch is a priority for the Scousers
After a difficult Premier League season, Liverpool are anticipated to acquire more than one midfielder in the summer after withdrawing from the battle for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham. Gravenberch is seen to be a good fit because he would be considerably less expensive than Bellingham.
BILD have reported that Gravenberch couldn’t contain his smile when a potential move to Anfield was brought up, indicating that an opportunity to join the former Premier League champions would certainly appeal.
The former Ajax starlet was reluctant to comment when asked about interest from the Reds following Bayern Munich’s Champions League elimination last week.
Liverpool’s early start with Ryan
Prior to the summer transfer window, the Reds had already discussed a move with Ryan Gravenberch Sr. and his agent, Jose Fortes Rodriguez.
Additionally, Liverpool have promised to match the midfielder’s existing pay, resulting in a contract worth almost £200,000 per week. However, it is unclear how much Bayern Munich would ask to let go of the young player, who they bought from Ajax for £16.3 million last summer.
Since joining the German powerhouses, Gravenberch has failed to get regular starts and has become disgruntled with his supporting position at the Allianz Arena. The maestro would have the chance to establish himself as a pillar of Liverpool’s redesigned team for the 2023–24 season by moving to Anfield.
Liverpool transfer rumours
Gravenberch would be a far better financial move for Liverpool than keeping on their chase of Bellingham, but Manchester United and other teams are also interested in the Bayern star, so competition for his services is sure to be tough.
In recent weeks, a slew of other elite midfielders, like Mason Mount of Chelsea, have been mentioned as potential transfers to Merseyside.
The graduate of the Blues school is currently embroiled in a contract dispute with his club and may become available for a discounted price if the Londoners opt to sell at the end of the current campaign.
Matheus Nunes and Ruben Neves of the Wolves are also thought to be on the Reds’ radar. Declan Rice, the captain for West Ham, and Moises Caicedo from Brighton have both been linked to Liverpool.
