Chelsea star, N’Golo Kante has broken his silence and put transfer rumours to bed by stating that he is aiming to stay at Stamford Bridge.
It has been one of the poorest seasons in Chelsea’s Premier League era, and many players have been rumoured to be leaving the club next season. One such player was N’Golo Kante whose future looked slim with the Blues.
His contract expires in the summer and so far the club haven’t been able to tie the Frenchman down to fresh terms.
The midfielder has had an injury-hit season and hence has just 9 appearances in all competitions for the Blues. But the former Leicester man remains one of the key players for the London outfit.
He is adored by all football fans irrespective of the club they support mainly due to his humble attitude off the pitch. However, on the pitch, the player has been consistent ever since his breakthrough season at Leicester when they incredibly won the Premier League.
Moreover, he has won the PL back-to-back with Leicester and Chelsea and also the World Cup. Additionally, he has won the Champions League, Europa League, and the FA Cup with Chelsea.
N’Golo Kante says that he wants to stay at Chelsea
The Frenchman was rumoured to be on the radar of PSG and Liverpool for a while now. Many reports have revealed, PSG chiefs were in discussions with Kante’s agent over a switch to the French capital.
The Reds have supposedly identified Kante as a potential cheap solution to their midfield issues.
In an interview, Kante has revealed his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge. He wants to play a bigger role in their ‘exciting project’ under Todd Boehly next season.
“I want to be part of Chelsea future, for sure. It’s an exciting project.
Unfortunately this season was not at Chelsea’s level but we want to go the way of success. Let’s see where I will be, but I hope here.”
Kante has agreed to extend his contract with the Blues, as long as his demands are met. The 32-year-old could pair up with the newest recruit, Enzo Fernandez in the midfield.
However, with Kante openly saying that he would want to stay, the Reds have to look elsewhere for their midfield rebuild. Some of the options are Kante’s teammates in Mason Mount, Gallagher, and Kovacic.
However, as per reports, Mauricio Pochettino would be the Chelsea boss for the next season. Hence, it is to be seen what he thinks of the squad and whom he would want to keep at the club.
