Mohammed Kudus has reportedly expressed his desire to leave Ajax this summer with Liverpool one of the clubs interested in the Ghanaian.

As per reports from The Athletic, the 22-year-old attacker has made the Dutch team aware that he wants to leave the club this summer. The likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, and Newcastle are some of the clubs linked alongside Liverpool.

The Ajax man was scouted by the Reds in Qatar when he played for Ghana. The forward impressed in the group stages and was labeled ‘a special talent’ by his teammate. Kudus has had a breakthrough season with his country and club.

The attacker is currently priced at £40m and he could be one of the most sought-after players in this transfer window.

Liverpool could make a move for the forward as Firmino’s exit has left a huge gaping hole in the squad. Moreover, Kudus started off his career as a midfielder and his versatility could be a good thing for Klopp.

Could Kudus fit into Liverpool?

Kudus is no doubt an incredible talent who could very well become one of the best forwards in world football if he continues to develop at his current pace. But for Liverpool, they might have to miss out on the Ajax star based on the needs Klopp’s side actually have in the market.

Moreover, with a poor season coming to an end, the fans would be expecting a turnaround next season. The Liverpool faithful would be expecting star signings to be able to compete for trophies next season. Man City were crowned the champions and Liverpool weren’t there to challenge Pep’s side.

Kudus needs time to develop still and even though he could flourish under Klopp, it is a risk that needs to be evaluated before taking.

Three central midfielders are expected to join alongside a defender and even a potential backup goalkeeper. While Kudus could be a great option right now, the Reds need to go for an out-and-out midfielder.
