Mason Mount’s father has dropped the clearest signal yet, that his son could be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season, after being snubbed by the new Chelsea boss.

Sources at Football Insider have revealed that Mount’s father has mandated an agent to sound out interest in his services.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined due to injury and has reportedly fallen out with a large section of the Chelsea fan base, due to his wage demands.

Mason Mount will be running out of his contract in June 2024 and a possible extension has not gone as per the liking of the player.

Moreover, it is believed that Mount demanded higher wages in his new contract. In fact, it would have made him a top earner, alongside Sterling and Reece James at around £325,000 and £250,000 a week, respectively. The Englishman currently earns around £80,000-a-week on the deal he signed in 2019.

However, according to sources, the Blues are ‘refusing to budge’ from their latest offer. Hence, both parties are deadlocked at the moment.

It is likely that Chelsea wouldn’t hesitate to sell the midfielder if a new deal couldn’t be agreed upon. According to a few sources, Liverpool are the front runners to sign the 24-year-old midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp’s team are in dire need of creativity in the middle of the park. The Reds have shortlisted a few midfielders to up their midfield game the next season.

A rough estimate of around £60-70 million should convince the club to sell the player.

However, Mount could be a huge miss to the London club as he has been one of the best midfielders for them in recent seasons.

The England international has been an important part of Chelsea’s CL-winning team in 2020-21. The midfielder provided a match-winning assist to clinch the 2nd UCL title for the Blues.

The Englishman has also won the Player of the year for Chelsea twice in a row (2021 & 2022).

Moreover, the Blues academy graduate has had his best season for Chelsea last season. The midfielder managed to score 13 times and provided 16 assists in 53 appearances.

Chelsea have also acquired Nkunku and with a world-class set of players to choose from, it would be interesting to see where Mason Mount would end up the next season.
