Former England international and PL legend Joe Cole was impressed by the performance of Liverpool Vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold during international duty.
The English international team has been in fine form after the World Cup 2022. The Three Lions have won 6 out of the 7 games with just 1 draw in the qualification round of UEFA EURO Qualifiers.
The team finally looks like they are getting the shape of a reliable force with every player sharing good chemistry. And the addition of Trent Alexander-Arnold in the midfield position by Gareth Southgate.
However, in the match against Australia, Trent started out at his familiar right-back position. And he provided the defining pass for the only goal scored in the match.
Trent Alexander-Arnold impresses Joe Cole
Starting out at the right-back position, the Merseyside lad played an amazing pass to find Jack Grealish.
The Manchester City attacker then took a shot and later it was turned in by Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
While analyzing the goal on Channel 4, former England international said,
“Look at this ball now. Nobody in world football is delivering that on the turn, first time, and that’s the difference.”
There is no denying that the Anfield player is a world-class player and one of the top right-backs in the game at this moment. Even though his defensive abilities have been under scrutiny on several occasions.
However, his performances with fewer defensive responsibilities on his shoulders have proven to be more influential in certain games.
If he chooses to take responsibility for a more attacking role than right-back, then he can impact the games in more ways with his defense-breaking passes.
Whether Klopp chooses him to handle a more forward role still remains a question worth pondering. He most certainly has shown and is showing the signs of being ready to take responsibility.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
