Liverpool could very well seal their first January transfer before the winter window as they are said to be in pole position for Andre Trindade.
As per Pete O’Rourke who reported for Football Insider, the Reds are in pole position to agree a deal for the Fluminense midfielder. The journalist believes that despite the competition for the Brazilian’s signature, Liverpool would beat them all.
“They are in pole position to agree a deal for Andre although they do face competition from other leading clubs.
Liverpool have already submitted a big offer but Fluminese didn’t want to sell in the summer. This will heat up again soon.”
O’Rourke wrote.
Despite their flurry of signings, the Reds are said to be looking to bring a proper number 6. The South American looks to be a long-term solution for the CDM role at Anfield.
Andre to fill in the defensive midfield role at Liverpool?
Ever since Fabinho left the club, he hasn’t been replaced entirely. The new boy, Alexis Mac Allister has been filling in for the role even though he isn’t a natural CDM. Moreover, he has been brilliant for the Reds, but there have been evident signs that a proper number 6 is needed.
The Argentine could probably be blamed for Brighton’s goal last week, that gave them the lead. Although Liverpool drew the game, they didn’t come out with three points either.
But being played out of position by Klopp, the Argentine deserves some sympathy as well. Although we could expect Wataru Endo at some point in the season to play as CDM, having Andre wouldn’t hurt for sure. Also, Ryan Gravenberch is still adapting to the German’s style.
With the injury list growing for Klopp, there is need for quality back-ups and squad depth as well. As the long season prevails, completing a transfer early in January would put Liverpool in a great position.
