Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo will be missing the Carabao Cup semi-finals and other matches for international duty.
The Reds annihilated West Ham United on Wednesday night, beating the visitors 5-1. The match started in classic Liverpool fashion, where they dominated their opponent with possession and goalscoring opportunities.
The first blow came from Dominik Szoboszlai in the 28th minute. The Hungarian skipper fired a shot from a distance, which ended in the bottom left corner of Hammers net. The first half ended up with 1-0 scoreline.
Then the embarrassment started in the second half as Curtis Jones scored a brace alongside the goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.
This victory helped LFC to proceed to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup for the second time in three years. However, Merseyside boss Jurgen Klopp might miss two key players for the two legs against Fulham and other matches in January.
Salah and Endo to miss Carabao Cup semi-finals
The upcoming hectic schedule for the Anfield giants after the winter break can see two-star players miss out on games. The Africa Cup of Nations and the Asian Cup will run from January 13 to February 11 and January 12 to February 10, respectively.
As Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo are the captains of their respective national teams, they will be missing out on a couple of games. This means both players will be out of club action for at least three games, including two Carabao Cup semi-finals and the PL clash against Bournemouth.
They could also potentially miss the FA Cup fourth-round match if the team qualifies, beating Arsenal in the third round and PL match against Chelsea. But on a positive note, the Merseysiders will not have to play a Europa League knockout match as they directly qualified for the last 16 by finishing 1st in Group E.
Egypt will most definitely qualify beyond the group stage, and Japan are the outright favorites to win the Asian Cup.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
