Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, acknowledged that midfielder Curtis Jones could benefit from quicker decision-making during play, despite an outstanding performance in Liverpool’s 5-1 victory over West Ham United on Wednesday night. Jones, 22, scored two goals in the match.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Klopp praised Jones for his skill set but noted the need for the midfielder to accelerate the pace of the game.

Klopp emphasized that the second goal exemplified Jones’ capabilities, showcasing his speed and ability, qualities the manager frequently advises him to utilize.
“I’m really happy for him because the skill set is immense but sometimes he forgets to speed the game up,”
Klopp commented.
“Hopefully tonight is an eye-opener for him, and he is like ‘ah okay’. So that’s a possibility for me as well. So, yes, top game. He looked really, really sharp for the whole 90 minutes.”
Said Klopp.
Klopp’s reminder to Jones aligns with the sentiments of Liverpool fans, who have observed Jones’ occasional tendency to hold onto the ball for too long.
While Jones has improved in this aspect, Klopp’s emphasis suggests a continued focus on refining the midfielder’s decision-making for optimal team momentum.
Despite the constructive criticism, Klopp acknowledged Jones’ overall sharpness and performance throughout the match, recognizing his potential when fully unleashed.
Klopp’s comments underscore the belief that once Jones refines these aspects of his game, he will further solidify his status as a key player for Liverpool.
