Liverpool ace ,Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Manchester City star, Jack Grealish have withdrawn from the England squad due to injury.
The duo was unsurprisingly called up to Gareth Southgate’s squad for next Saturday’s Euros qualifier.
They would be facing Ukraine and then in their 150th Anniversary Heritage match, they would go up against Scotland.
However, both Grealish and Trent arrived at St. George’s Park, nursing injuries from their domestic leagues. The Manchester City ace was absent in their 5-1 thrashing of Fulham due to a quadriceps strain.
Meanwhile, Trent came off in the 71st minute in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa. Moreover, he headed straight down the tunnel soon after he was taken off.
Now, England have confirmed that both players have been sent home to start their recoveries. Also, Southgate is not planning on calling up any replacements for the two.
Liverpool worry intensified as Trent left out of England camp due to injury
As per a statement, both the players have been sent back due to injury concerns.
“Jack Grealish and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been ruled out of England’s September fixtures. The pair reported to St. George’s Park on Monday but have since withdrawn from the Three Lions squad following checks on injuries sustained prior to camp.
All other players are due as planned apart from Kieran Trippier who will arrive on Wednesday owing to a personal commitment.
There are no further call ups planned as Gareth Southgate’s squad prepare for Saturday’s UEFA EURO 2024 against Ukraine in Wroclaw and Tuesday’s 150th Anniversary Heritage Match with Scotland in Glasgow.”
Also, during the post-match conference, Klopp confirmed that the defender had tweaked his hamstring. Moreover, the player was hopeful that he hadn’t sustained a serious problem.
As per The Athletic, the Liverpool right-back will not spend an extended period on the sidelines.
But the 24-year-old will likely sit out the next two weeks after undergoing scans on Monday. As a result, his involvement in Liverpool’s trip to Molineux to face Wolves would be a doubt.
However, he should be ready to face LASK in their Europa League opener on September 21. This isn’t the first injury concern that Klopp has had to deal with.
French defender, Ibrahim Konate also withdrew from France duty earlier on Monday due to his hamstring problem.
