Former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchinson is in disbelief that the Reds are giving up on signing Jude Bellingham.

Bellingham is definitely signing for Real Madrid as Liverpool left the chase to sign him a month ago. The main reason to withdraw stated by the club was the high transfer fee to sign the midfielder. According to Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the signing fee of the Dortmund star is a modest €100M with add-ons.

Liverpool Echo reported upon this on Twitter and the former Reds’ midfielder reposted that on his own account. He has been furious at his former club.

The 52-year-old wrote,

“Incredible really.

Sell 2/3 players or offer in exchange and the price would have been even lower. It’s Madness from Liverpool not to be in the race….”

The Reds paid almost the same price for the Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez last summer. So it is not so difficult to disagree with Hutchinson.

Liverpool out of funds to sign BvB midfielder Jude Bellingham

The Merseysiders will not be going for the 19-year-old but that does not only depend on the cost. As stated by the club, the decision was taken because with the funds available it was better to put up a strong line of players rather than going for one.

It has been evident throughout the years, with funds provided by club owner FSG, big-tag star signings are not much possible.

As reported earlier this year, if the English sensation cost around €150M it still would have been acceptable. But fees at around €100M is worth the steal.

Also, the Reds will miss Champions League football and that has a major impact over Bellingham. The midfielder will have a guaranteed opportunity to play at the highest club-level competition by simply joining the reigning champions Real Madrid.

The said contract will have Jude in Bernabeu until 2029 when he will be 26 and Liverpool might not be interested at that point.
