The development on the case of the kidnapping of Liverpool star Luis Diaz’s father is quite concerning as he is still missing with the search mission still going on.
The Reds star Luis Diaz is going through a tough time as his parents were kidnapped in Columbia on Saturday.
Although his mother Cilenis Marulanda has been rescued and returned to safety, his father is still missing.
As per a report via Columbian media outlet El Tiempo, the search operation to rescue Luis Manuel Diaz is still going on with at least 200 uniformed personnel, including police, soldiers, elite commandos, cartographers, judicial police, and pilots of ships specialized in search and rescue.
In a press conference on Sunday, Attorney General Francisco Barbosa said the soccer player’s father “could” be in Venezuela.
But this claim has been turned down and it has been confirmed he is still within the country’s borders.
Liverpool’s stance on the kidnapping of Luis Diaz’s father
Luis Diaz has been advised to stay in England although he has not been able to play. Liverpool technical assistant Pep Lijnders has referred to the situation experienced by the team and Díaz. He has stated,
“Lucho is an incredible player and we know it. But then you see him in the building and he’s the person who’s always smiling, so we really care about him. We try to support him now as much as we can, a lot of things are out of our hands.
Lucho is one of us. Showing the shirt [from Diogo Jota] was a nice gesture; he knows we are here for him. The reaction from the stadium was also special: all the fans are behind him. Our motto is You will never walk alone.”
In a heartfelt display of support, the Columbian community gathered at the streets of Columbia and held a peaceful march for Mr. Diaz’s release.
All Liverpool fans are also hoping and praying that Mr. Diaz gets rescued soon and Luis Diaz returns to play.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
