Liverpool, for the past few weeks, have been targeting PSG star Marco Verratti who has earned praise from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Reds are linked with many midfielders this season as they are currently going through a midfield revamp. The club has already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in their attempt to bolster the midfield.
However, experienced midfielders like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are leaving LFC and soon will be joining Saudi Pro League. And while most of the midfielders linked with the Merseysiders to fill in the gap are young, there is one who is quite experienced.
The Anfield giants are very keenly looking forward to signing Marco Verratti. He has been playing for the French giants Paris Saint-Germain for over a decade now.
Ibrahimovic thinks highly of Liverpool target Marco Verratti
Verratti has been a very special player for both PSG and Italy no doubt. But it becomes even more special when a senior and one of the best players of the generation compliments.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke highly about the Italian international in the past. While commenting on the midfielder, Zlatan said,
“No-one is better than him, but you have to play him in the right way to get the best out of him.
You have to play him like at PSG where he plays in central midfield.”
It is not quite common for Ibrahimovic to compliment other players. Especially because he comes off as an ‘arrogant’ and ‘egoistic’ player, he even calls himself ‘the God’. So to get praised by this legend of the game is quite an achievement.
Liverpool’s pursuit to sign Veratti
The Reds are considering the 30-year-old as their next potential target for this summer. Verratti is certainly one of the top tier midfielders of the game right now.
Since joining the French side in 2012, he has appeared in 416 matches, scored 11 goals, and assisted 61 goals for PSG. Verratti has also averaged 2.8 tackles and 1.8 tackles throughout the years.
He has the much-needed experience which will be helpful in keeping in mind the Reds’ current situation. They will need the experience in the middle of the park with all the new young signings.
