As per SkySports, Liverpool and Al-Ettifaq have reached an agreement over the transfer of Jordan Henderson for a sum of £12m.
Gerrard’s side have proposed more than triple his current £200,000-a-week salary. Also, with a two-year contract, including a third-year option.
However, Henderson has two years left on his current Liverpool contract. But the clubs have agreed upon a price tag for the Englishman and it would see him play in the Saudi Pro League next season.
Confirmed: Jordan Henderson to join Al Ettifaq soon
The 33-year-old had reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Saudi club. It was over to the two clubs to decide upon a fee for the skipper.
Now, it is being reported that a fee of £12m + add-ons has been agreed by the two clubs.
As per the trusted Liverpool journalist Dave, the medical would be arranged in the UK or Croatia. It would be done once the Liverpool captain signs his official offer.
Henderson assessed how significant his on-pitch role would be at Liverpool moving forward. Also, switching to Al-Ettifaq could impede his international future ahead of the Euros next summer.
Henderson has made 491 appearances since signing for Liverpool from Sunderland for £20m in 2011.
He has captained the side to the Premier League title and the Champions League. He has also won the FA Cup and two League Cups.
New targets to replace the departing?
This would be a major blow for the Reds having to lose both Milner and Henderson in the same window. The sheer experience in the dressing room, apart from the on-field antics, would be a huge miss.
Going forwards though, Klopp needs to bring in midfielders with a mix of decent experience and youth.
There have been a few names in the Liverpool list including Romeo Lavia, Cheick Doucoure, Kalvin Phillips, and more.
It is now to be seen who would be able to fill those massive shoes of Jordan Henderson at Anfield.
