Liverpool FC are reportedly pursuing a potential transfer deal for Franck Kessie, the Ivory Coast, and Barcelona midfielder.

Recent reports suggest that the Merseyside club have submitted an offer of £25.8m to acquire the services of the African star.

Kessie’s situation in Camp Nou

Kessie, who joined Barcelona from AC Milan in July 2022, has struggled to secure regular playing time under Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.

The 26-year-old midfielder made 43 appearances for the Blaugrana last season, with only 18 of those as a starter in various competitions. His limited opportunities, especially in La Liga, have prompted speculation about his potential departure from the Camp Nou.

Liverpool in pursuit of Franck Kessie

Liverpool’s interest in Kessie stems from their need to reinforce their midfield options, following the departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita. The Reds view Kessie as a versatile box-to-box midfielder who can add strength, physicality, and goalscoring prowess to their midfield.

While negotiations between Liverpool and Barcelona are yet to commence, the offer from the Reds indicates their determination to secure Kessie’s services.

Additionally, Liverpool are also finalizing a deal with Brighton for the acquisition of Argentine star Alexis Mac Allister, further bolstering their midfield options.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp aims to revitalize his squad after a disappointing campaign. The potential signing of Kessie would be considered a significant coup for the club. His impressive goal-scoring record during his time at AC Milan have caught the attention of several clubs across Europe.

Clubs interested in the Barcelona midfielder

Liverpool face competition from other interested parties, including Tottenham and Inter Milan. However, Barcelona’s readiness to make Kessie available at a cut-price fee of £30m has provided Liverpool with a major boost in their pursuit.

As Liverpool’s summer transfer window gains momentum, the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister is set to mark their first significant signing. Klopp remains confident that Kessie will join the Reds, further strengthening their midfield and setting the stage for a revitalized campaign in the upcoming season.

The potential acquisition of Kessie, alongside the imminent arrival of Alexis Mac Allister, demonstrates Liverpool’s determination to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest level in the upcoming season.
