Brighton has given permission to Alexis Mac Allister to undergo a medical at Liverpool. The Argentine is joining the Reds this summer.

Mac Allister completes medical to join Liverpool

The Argentine World Cup winner has completed all the physical tests before completing all the necessary paperwork for the deal. The contract will be signed today. It has been revealed that the deal will keep the midfielder until 2028 at Anfield.

Supposedly the deal is worth £55M after the Reds triggered a release clause in Mac Allister’s contract. He has become the main target for the Merseysiders after they failed to pursue Dortmund player Jude Bellingham.

Since joining the Seagulls from Argentinos Juniors in 2019, he has been an integral part of the team. He has made 112 appearances in the White and Blue shirt, scoring 20 goals and assisting 9.

The 2022-23 season has been his most successful season in which, he has played 35 Premier League games, scoring 10 goals and assisting 2 (stats via Transfermarkt).

The 24-year-old played a pivotal role in Brighton’s qualification for European competition for the first time in club history. They have finished sixth in the PL points table right below Liverpool and secured themselves a place in the Europa League for the first time in the history of the club.

Also, he has been a part of the Argentine National team that won the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The midfielder played alongside Lionel Messi and was a crucial part of the midfield trio. Thus, he will be bringing in the winning mentality and experience to boost the team.

The Argentine signed a deal with the Seagulls in October, although the deal had a release clause that helped Liverpool to complete the deal smoothly.

Manager’s comment on Mac Allister and Caicedo

While discussing about Mac Allister’s future along with his in-demand teammates Moises Caicedo, Brighton Roberto De Zerbi said:

“I think it can be the last game for Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.

It is right that they can leave, they can play at a higher level.”

With the first successful signing of the season and more players linked with the club, Liverpool’s midfield could be shaping for a good future.
