Liverpool will miss upon £7.5M add-ons for Sadio Mane as he joins Al-Nassr, leaving the club short on cash to sign Romeo Lavia.
Sadio Mane became a Liverpool legend in the six-year time that he had at the club. The attacker joined the Merseysiders back in 2016 from Southampton for £34M.
And since joining the club he went on to become one of the greatest attackers while pairing with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
The Senegal international donned the Reds outfit in 269 matches, scoring 120 goals and assisting 48 goals across all competitions.
He won every major trophy including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup (stats via Transfermarkt).
But the 31-year-old left Anfield last summer putting an end to his glorious Liverpool career. He joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski for £35M.
But things didn’t quite work out for the Senegalese winger in Germany. He only managed to score only 12 goals for the Bavarians appearing in 38 matches across all competitions.
Moreover, he suffered from injury for a major part of the season. Also, he broke into a fight with team-mate Leroy Sane and was fined and suspended by the club.
And all these led to manager Thomas Tuchel deciding to get rid of the ex-Liverpool player. Apparently, he will be joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
Mane joining Al-Nassr might hit Liverpool signing Romeo Lavia
According to a new report via The Daily Mail, Mane joining the Saudi side will impact the Merseysiders. The £35M deal was broken down into two parts.
The German giants paid the initial signing fee of £27.5M to the Reds last year. But the add-ons of £7.5M were performance-based that included a minimum number of goals Mane has to score.
But the 31-year-old failed to score the number of goals as a result the English giants will not be getting an additional £7.5M sum.
And Bayern are ready to sell him to Al-Nassr for £30M as no other club will pay that amount of money for him now.
This money would have definitely helped Liverpool to sign Lavia from Southampton. The club needs another midfield signing to fill out the gap created due to players leaving Anfield.
Liverpool somehow have to complete the signing of Romeo Lavia before going into the new signing as they still lack some depth in the midfield.
