Liverpool are expecting Romeo Lavia to join the team soon and the possible line-up looks very promising. The club will be competing in the next season to finish in the top 4 of PL.

The Merseysiders will be starting their season in just 15 days with their trip to Stamford Bridge. They will be facing Chelsea on 13th August in their first game of the season and it will definitely be a test for the team.

The last season was not a much-desired season for the Reds. The team dropped easy points at the beginning of the season with unimaginable draws and losses.

And these results led to the club missing Champions League football for the first time in the last six years.

However, Jurgen Klopp and Co. will not be looking forward to the same outcome. And the Anfield side have already been pretty much active in the transfer market this summer.

Experienced players leaving

The club let go of veterans like James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita for free.

Meanwhile, Juventus loanee Arthur Melo also returned to the Italian side after providing little to no help to the club.

And recent reports of skipper Jordan Henderson and experienced defensive-midfielder Fabinho leaving the club have also shaken the Reds.

Reports of Thiago leaving Anfield have also emerged. However, the latest report suggests that he might be staying at the club.

Liverpool planned their midfield rebuild keeping in mind that these players were going to be a part of the midfield. But now their departure will be impacting the team badly as the Merseysiders will be missing both experience and depth.

Addition of Romeo Lavia to the new Liverpool line-up

The Reds have been one of the most active clubs in this transfer season. Before going into the 2023-24 season the club needs to make sure that they have the best possible chance of rising to the top again.

And in their efforts to revamp the midfield, the club signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer.

The pair cost the Anfield giants £95M and they are already showing signs of greatness in the pre-season.

And now another signing is needed to fill in the No. 6 position. Although many names surfaced in recent weeks as Liverpool targets for the defensive-midfielder position. But the most prominent candidate has been Romeo Lavia.

The Reds submitted their second official bid worth £45M for the Belgian international after their first bid of around £37M was rejected by the Saints. Apparently, Lavia will be joining the team soon after completing his medical.

Need of signing a new defender

The Merseysiders need to sign a defender at this stage before starting the new season. Liverpool’s back-line has looked pretty vulnerable throughout the last season.

Whenever Virgil Van Djik or Ibrahima Konate has missed a game, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have replaced them. And their performance has not been up to the mark.

Moreover, Klopp has used Trent Alexander Arnold as a pivot in the pre-season games, and looks like he will be playing him there for the next season. So to strengthen the back 3 obviously they will need another centre-back.

And the names of Chelsea prodigy Levi Colwill, Torino star Perr Schurrs and Barcelona star Andres Christensen have emerged.

However, all of them are rumours and probably the Anfield giants will not be signing any more players.

What we have deducted from the pre-season games is that Klopp will be playing a 3-2-2-3 formation in the upcoming season. If there are no other signings apart from Lavia then the possible starting line-up could be:

Allison in goal; the back 3 consisting of Van Djik, Konate, and Robertson; Lavia and Trent as a pivot; Mac Allister and Szoboszlai in the middle; and the front 3 consisting of Salah, Diaz, and Gakpo or Nunez as a striker.
