Liverpool’s latest acquisition, Dominik Szoboszlai, sought the wisdom of his former teammate Erling Haaland regarding his new life in the northwest.
Szoboszlai, who completed a £60 million move to Anfield, joins the club’s midfield revolution alongside Alexis Mac Allister.
Haaland advises Szoboszlai
The 22-year-old Hungarian is known for his prowess in set pieces. He has already engaged in a comprehensive conversation with Haaland about life in the Premier League.
This included tips on where to reside. Haaland, the star striker for Manchester City, suggested a remote area between the two cities.
Additionally, the duo discussed the excitement of facing each other when Liverpool and City clash in the league. Speaking about his relationship with Haaland, Szoboszlai told the Hungarian publication Nemzeti Sport:
“We’ve talked. So much so that Erling Haaland has also advised on finding real estate, and it could very well be that we become neighbours.
I learned from him that several players live halfway between Manchester and Liverpool in a quiet area where privacy can be preserved, and on Monday I will see what he was talking about.
I am very curious. And of course, putting our friendship aside during the Liverpool-Manchester City matches, it will surely be a fantastic experience to play against each other.”
Advice from fellow Hungarian
Szoboszlai didn’t stop at Haaland for advice; he also tapped into the wisdom of former Liverpool goalie Peter Gulacsi. These two buddies not only shared the field at Leipzig but also represent Hungary together.
“I’ve spoken to him before and he knows what our relationship is like. He was there in Leipzig when I got there, I became a player for the club and I could count on his support from the very first moment.
He was a very good team-mate of mine and I hope he got over his injury and there will be another Champions League match between Liverpool and RB Leipzig where he can try to save my free-kick!”
Szoboszlai on life at Liverpool
Szoboszlai has signed a five-year deal with the Reds. He added:
“I’ll do some training on Monday, I have some paperwork to do, and then look at some potential properties where I’d like to live.
Then I have to go to Leipzig, pack up my stuff, say goodbye to my former club, thank everyone for their support, love and encouragement and then to Budapest.
But on the 10th at the latest I will be back in Liverpool, because on the 11th I will be training for my new team.”
