Liverpool could still make significant moves in the market, especially with their interest in the Portuguese defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Liverpool have not entirely replaced the departed Fabinho. Although Klopp signed Endo in the summer, the 30-year-old does not seem like a long-term solution. Hence, the holding midfield department does need strengthening.
There have been many names in recent times for the number 6. But the Reds could go for a Premier League-proven midfielder in Joao Palhinha. The Fulham player has been linked to a move to Anfield since the summer. Moreover, he was close to joining Bayern in the summer, but the move broke down.
Liverpool should go for Palhinha: his advisors
The Reds have been linked to the Portuguese midfielder since the summer. He has been excellent in the Premier League, helping Fulham to a respectable mid-table finish last season. Meanwhile, as per Daily Star, he has been valued at around £50m, and reportedly Bayern are also interested in him.
While talking to transfer expert Alex Crook speaking on talkSPORT, the player’s representatives have offered Palhinha to Liverpool.
“He signed a new contract, that Bayern interest hasn’t gone away although I’m not sure it will happen this month.
But I know his advisors have been going to the top clubs, the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in particular and saying, look, this player has proved himself a Premier League, do you want to make Fulham an offer?
At the moment, they’re pushing back on it because of his age, I think he’s 28, that doesn’t necessarily fit the profile that these clubs are willing to do, but I think that’s a mistake because I think he’s just about Fulham’s best player.”
Unsurprisingly, Palhinha’s representatives are trying to get him a big move. Moreover, he does deserve it, owing to his brilliant performances last season.
