Liverpool might have the opportunity to bring back their former star, Xabi Alonso, as a manager next summer, thanks to a clause in his contract with Bayern Munich.
Xabi Alonso, a Liverpool legend, is currently the manager of Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, where he has impressed by leading the team to the top of the table during Julian Nagelsmann’s first international break as Germany’s manager.
Reports via SportBILD suggest that Liverpool fans have expressed a desire to see Alonso take over from Jurgen Klopp as the club’s manager, and this could become a reality.
Alonso is under contract with Leverkusen until 2026, but his deal includes a clause that allows him to join any of his three major former clubs, which are Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
Xabi Alonso to be the next Liverpool manager?
Xabi Alonso enjoyed a successful spell at Liverpool alongside Steven Gerrard, winning the Champions League in 2005.
He later went on to win another European title with Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti.
Now, he could potentially replace Ancelotti as the manager of Real Madrid if the legendary coach decides to depart from the 14-time Champions League winners next summer.
At the same time, Bayern Munich, who are facing challenges early in the season, might consider bringing back Alonso, who was previously signed by Pep Guardiola and used as a center-back.
Although Jurgen Klopp’s contract with Liverpool runs until 2025, there have been reports indicating that he will assess his options at the end of the season.
Julian Nagelsmann’s contract with the German national team is a short-term one, and Klopp is believed to be interested in the role once he departs from Anfield.
Thus, we can see a post-Jurgen Klopp era beginning in the next season. Whatever happens, no one can deny it is very different to replace the German.
Liverpool is my Religion and Anfield is my Church. 17th May 1996 the date I had my blood coloured red. The one you love the most you can not live without it and that is football to me.
