Reports suggest that Liverpool are launching a cheeky £84 million bid to sign Borussia Dortmund‘s star midfielder, Jude Bellingham.
According to sources, Jurgen Klopp has been pushing for the move, hoping to strengthen his midfield for the upcoming season.
The 19-year-old has been identified as Liverpool’s top target since December, and with Real Madrid and Manchester City also interested, it seems the Reds are trying to get ahead of the competition.
Liverpool to break their transfer record
Liverpool has already spent over £100 million on signings this season, but with Klopp determined to land Bellingham, they are prepared to break their transfer record of £75 million.
Haydn Dodge said in his most recent column,
“It’s known that a bid just shy of £100m has been submitted for Jude Bellingham ahead of this summer’s transfer window,”
When asked if Bellingham would like to join Liverpool if the Reds’ offer ends up being accepted, our source said:
“He could do. His family absolutely love Liverpool and their fans.”
The Reds will hope that Bellingham can have a similar impact on the team as Virgil van Dijk, who has won seven trophies with Liverpool.
The Reds are linked with several players
The transfer window is approaching, and rumours are heating up as Klopp looks to rebuild his struggling midfield. Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Bristol City’s Alex Scott have also been linked with moves to Anfield.
In addition to these Liverpool are also keeping an eye on Matheus Nunes, Mason Mount, Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice, Nicolo Barella, Joao Palhinha, Teun Koopmeiners, Adrien Rabiot, Sofyan Amrabat, Manu Kone, Luka Sucic, and Ryan Gravenberch as backup alternatives in case they are unable to sign Bellingham.
Liverpool in battle with other clubs for Bellingham
Bellingham has become one of the brightest stars in world football, with impressive performances at both club and international level.
He has been directly involved in five goals in seven games in the Champions League and has had a direct hand in nine goals in 26 games in the Bundesliga. It’s no surprise that Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester City are all interested in signing him.
Dortmund is keen to receive additional proposals from other clubs, but with Liverpool’s early bid, they may have to act fast to secure the young midfielder.
If a bidding war does take place, Liverpool are unlikely to back down easily as Bellingham is their top target for the summer.
