Trent Alexander Arnold has expressed his enjoyment of playing alongside Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez. The star right-back has also tipped the Uruguayan to achieve big things during his tenure at the Merseyside.
Speaking to Liverpool Echo, Arnold lauded the 23-year-old striker after what has been an interesting first season for him. Despite, Liverpool’s poor results Nunez has shown consistency by netting 14 goals in all competitions.
However, the Reds are on course for their worst campaign yet under Jurgen Klopp. With only nine Premier League games left for the season, a top-four finish seems to be out of reach for the Anfield Giants.
Alexander Arnold hopes to push Nunez to the next level in the coming seasons for Liverpool
Despite not being able to unlock his full potential, the 23-year-old has quickly established himself as a favorite at the club.
Alexander Arnold clearly has been a fan of the South American talisman, who could explode into life next season. The right-back said
“We speak the language of football. That’s all that matters and Darwin is a really exciting player to play with. We all enjoy playing with him and we’re still getting to know him, how he plays and moves, but it’s exciting because he adds a lot to our team.”
Despite the criticism Nunez has received this season, the Uruguay striker has had a very good first year in England on paper. He is on track to score 15 goals and lay the groundwork for an exciting second season at Anfield.
Like many of the current team’s players, the Liverpool defender has lost a lot of confidence and form this season.
However, Alexander-Arnold’s return to life could be sparked by a full summer of rest and some new additions, which would be to Nunez’s advantage.
While one can not deny the fact that Klopp could try TAA in new position next season after his excellent midfield play against the Gunners.
