Liverpool are looking to strengthen their defence by trying to swoop in for Bournemouth defender, Lloyd Kelly, who could be available for cut-price this January.
As per Football Insider, the Anfield club could join in the race for the 24-year-old defender, who is targeted by Tottenham as well.
The Englishman is out of contract at Bournemouth in June 2024 and could be available for a pre-contract agreement with other clubs in January.
Moreover, PL clubs, Liverpool and Spurs are ready to battle it out to sign the Cherries star. Bournemouth are also not ready to lose out on their star defender for free and are ready to hear offers for him.
Liverpool ready to battle it out with Spurs for Kelly
Kelly has made 2 starts for the Cherries so far this season, playing 149 minutes in total. The Englishman joined the South Coast club in 2019 from Bristol City for a fee of £13m.
Kelly has made 119 appearances in total for the Cherries, scoring twice and adding seven assists. He played 24 times last term, with an ankle injury preventing him from being an ever-present.
However, with Bournemouth facing the prospect of losing the defender for free at the end of that deal, they could be forced to sell him for a cut-price fee. The 24-year-old could play as a centre-back and a left-back.
Jurgen Klopp was keen to add a new left-sided defender in the summer window but failed to do so. They could make a third attempt to sign the England international in January.
Moreover, he could be a great prospect under a manager like Jurgen Klopp if he is to come to Anfield. Thus, Liverpool could demand a lesser fee for the defender as he could be potentially available for free next summer. A January signing awaits.
