Liverpool have now cooled interest in 24-year-old midfielder who looked ‘likely’ to join – journalist

Liverpool have cooled their interest in 24-year-old Wolverhampton midfielder, Matheus Nunes. He has been a potential target for the Reds.
The reason why Liverpool have stepped down from the chase of midfielder Nunes
The Merseysiders have already specified their potential summer transfers which include players like Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount, Orkun Kokcu, and other midfielders.
According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, the Reds have been one of the front-runners for the Portuguese. Nunes joined the Wolves last summer. Liverpool have moved the midfielder to the non-priority list so he might remain in Julen Lopetegui’s side.
Jacobs said,
“Matheus Nunes is another player to watch this summer. Earlier this year he looked quite likely to leave for Liverpool this summer, but he’s no longer their priority with plenty of other midfielders on the market. Julen Lopetegui would love to try and keep him, but it’s a long window and I still expect Premier League interest.”
Nunes is having a mixed season. He has been featured in 33 Premier League games where he has provided just one assist and scored one goal. This explains why the Merseyside giants have lost their interest in the Wolves midfielder.
Having said that, the Reds might not completely discard the possibility. Jurgen Klopp wants his signings before the pre-season so that he can build the team properly.
It has been evident that most clubs do not always get their desired targets in the transfer windows and often have to settle for less.
Still, there is plenty of time left before the summer transfer market closes. Liverpool will try their best to make all the potential transfers possible.
If the club fails to get all the desired targets, Nunes should be a backup plan for the Anfield side.
Transfermarkt has determined the value of the 24-year-old midfielder at €45M.
