Liverpool now reportedly believes that they could now have an opportunity to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea at a bargain fee.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Reds are confident that they could bring the Englishman to Anfield. It has been reported that contract talks have been stalled between Mount and Chelsea. Although, there are chances that the imminent new boss, Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival could have an impact on things.
Many other clubs like Arsenal, and Manchester United are also monitoring the Chelsea man’s situation. Whilst nothing is final at this point, Liverpool could still be in the driving seat to sign Mount.
After a disappointing season, Mount would be looking to revive his career, and under Klopp, he could do exactly the same. Although he has remained a fan favorite at his boyhood club, he has endured a difficult couple of campaigns.
Liverpool set to bring Mount to Anfield
Klopp would love to see the attacking midfielder in Mount in his Liverpool squad. However, even after a poor season, he is priced somewhere around £50m to £60m.
Also, there’s no denying that the Chelsea man could be an incredible coup for Liverpool, and Klopp will be the ideal manager to get the best out of the playmaker.
With Chelsea’s talks stalling, Liverpool could have their golden chance to bring Mount to Merseyside. Moreover, with a potential bargain now on the table, Klopp and his team have to work in overdrive to bring the England international up north to Merseyside.
The Reds have had a season to forget and so have Chelsea. Both the teams aren’t competing for any prize and have huge expectations for the next season.
However, Liverpool still have a slim chance of a top 4 finish thereby clinching a UCL spot the next season. Even though the Reds don’t make it to a UCL place, they would still be playing in the Europa League.
This is still better than the West-London club who are in 12th place currently. This could be the perfect opportunity for Mount to make a switch to Anfield.
