Liverpool have reportedly moved firmly to sign 18-year-old Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz as a potential winter transfer.
Although the Merseysiders produced a frustrating 0-0 draw against Manchester United last Sunday, their form has been significantly better than last season. The club now stands 2nd in the PL with 38 points after matchday 17.
Even though the Reds were at the same stage last season by this time, they disappointingly finished 5th in the end. This resulted in them missing out on Champions League football this season.
These results from last season made the club seriously consider a rebuild. Thus, the humongous £140m were spent to execute the midfield revamp successfully.
As the winter transfer window approaches, the club will have to work towards getting the second phase of the rebuild done. The focus should be on signing new defenders, one solid defensive-midfielder and a forward to replace potentially outbound Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool closer to signing Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz
Earlier reports had suggested that LFC are interested in the Turkish striker. According to a new report via Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, the English giants have concretely moved to sign the Juventus youngster.
Yildiz has reportedly been frustrated with the lack of playing minutes he is getting at the Italian club. Although he has made 6 appearances for the Bianconeri in Serie A, the 18-year-old has only accumulated 38 minutes and is yet to make a start.
It is one of the main reasons the youngster has been unable to showcase his goalscoring abilities. Earlier reports have also confirmed that the price tag set by Juventus is around £35m.
If the Turkish international joins the Anfield club this winter, he will have already played for Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Liverpool before reaching 20.
Jurgen Klopp is known for nurturing young talents into world-class players, as seen in the case of Trent Alexander-Arnold and others. If Liverpool signs Yildiz, the German may have another world-class player come out of his coaching.
