Jurgen Klopp has been bolstering his squad for the next season and has urged his Liverpool board to sign Torino defender, Perr Schuurs.
As per Tuttosport, the Reds are ready to send a second bid to offer the Dutchman €40m and obtain his services. The reports have revealed that the Serie A side rejected a first bid from Liverpool of €30m.
The German is said to have wanted the Dutch defender for more than 2 years now. He has implored Anfield chiefs to get a deal done for the player at any cost.
The Reds have competition in Napoli who are believed to be in for the defender after Min-jae Kim is expected to join Bayern this summer.
Moreover, considering Klopp’s track record at the club, the board would be willing to listen to the German’s requests.
Liverpool in race for Perr Schuurs
The 6 foot 3 centre-back is unsurprisingly dominant in the air given his height, winning two aerial duels per game last season in Serie A.
He has a tackling average of 1.97 per match ranks him among the top 19% of positional peers in Europe’s five main leagues in the last 12 months.
The 23-year-old is also adept at retaining possession with an 88.1% pass completion rate over the past year.
This made the player a top priority for the German boss. And he wants the Liverpool board to sign the player at ‘any cost.’
Klopp appears to have made his opinion of the player very clear. So now it’s over to the hierarchy at Anfield to do whatever they can to try and sign Schuurs.
Moreover, Klopp has a list of targets for his defence as well after signing 2 midfielders for the next season. The Dutch player is one of the targets with Colwill being the other one.
Levi Colwill has been one of the top targets as well for the Reds. This is after impressive performances during his time at Brighton and Euro U21. However, Chelsea are reluctant to sell the 20-year-old. Thus, the Merseysiders will have to explore the transfer market for different options.
