Jurgen Klopp is reportedly considering playing Darwin Nunez in a new position for Liverpool to help him with his struggling form.
The Uruguay international has been out of sorts in recent weeks. The 24-year-old striker is going well over a month without a goal for the Reds. Hence, a few changes could be made to the Liverpool front line, with Nunez potentially set for a positional change.
This is meant to help the striker get the best out of him while playing for the Reds. As per journalist Neil Jones, there have been suggestions that Nunez could replace Luis Diaz in the left wing.
Moreover, Klopp is also working on molding the striker into the leading man in the 3 man attack. But this positional switch could be beneficial for all the parties involved.
“There have been some suggestions that, with Diaz also struggling, Klopp may move him to the left in a bid to stretch the game and try something different.
But much of Liverpool’s work with Nunez has been about moulding him into a line-leading Premier League centre-forward, so it would represent a bit of a shift now.”
Positional change for Nunez- could it be the answer for his struggles at Liverpool?
Nunez has been a natural striker at Benfica and even now for his country, Uruguay. However, he has performed in vast areas and has been promising.
Hence, playing him in the width could be good with the struggling striker. This could allow Gakpo or Jota to lead the line and encourage them to score goals.
Of course, every fan believes that the Uruguayan would eventually become a great striker for the Reds. But currently, a positional switch could help Liverpool number 9. The fans would love to see the striker battling with Haaland, but they trust Klopp.
