Former England international Ben Foster has revealed what ex-Liverpool man James Milner had told him about Reds ace Darwin Nunez.
The Merseyside giants stand 2nd in the PL points table with 38 points after 17 games. They failed to scavenge all 3 points against Manchester United on Sunday, as the match ended in a goalless draw.
This ensured that Arsenal climbed to the top of the points table with 39 points, overtaking the Reds by 1 end. The attacking line has been victimized for the inability to score despite having several opportunities.
However, James Milner, who had previously participated in all these outings, had expressed his views on LFC striker Darwin Nunez.
Foster on what Milner said about Darwin Nunez
Speaking to the Anfield giants‘ boss, Jurgen Klopp, for Amazon Prime Video Sport, Ben Foster shared what the current Brighton midfielder told him. The Wrexham goalkeeper stated,
“I did an interview actually with James Milner about six months ago. I said which player in the Liverpool squad do you get most excited by, has got the most raw talent?
And he said without a doubt it’s Darwin Nunez. He said ‘it’s just like we’re wating for something to click, but when it clicks, wow, he’s going to be a beast’.”
Klopp commented,
“Yeah, Milly didn’t play together with Dom Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and the others but they have a lot of talent as well and can still make the next step. But he’s right, Darwin is like that.”
Klopp praises Nunez
The German manager continued to laud the Uruguayan international by saying,
“He’s so important, he stays in the game. He’s super positive in and around the game. He was a bit like, aggressive, in a little bit the wrong way in the beginning when things don’t go well, now he’s completely relaxed. Aggressive but in the right way.
I’m really, really happy with what I see at the moment and the rest will come. We are compeltely calm. Could he have scored more goals? Yes, of course. Could he have had more situations? I don’t think so, he has all the moments, now we need to work on the last touch.”
The 24-year-old is not having an excellent season. Since arriving, pundits have had contradictory opinions about the forward. But there is no doubt about the striker’s abilities and potential; he will soon deliver up to his standards.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
