Former Liverpool midfielder turned pundit Jason McAteer has said that he would take Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, even if he costs the Reds £50M.
The managerial drama at the Anfield club has reached its peak as the names circulating are becoming interesting day by day.
At first, the obvious choice was former Reds midfielder and present Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso, who is making and breaking several records with the club.
However, the Spaniard has made it clear that he will not leave the German side as he would like to be a part of the team’s future success as well.
This complicated the situation even more with newer names surfacing up, intriguing the pundits and the fans alike.
Now the club has shortlisted a few names who could potentially succeed the German boss at the Merseyside club.
Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting CP’s Ruben Amorim are being considered as the top men for the job.
Ange Postecoglou to Liverpool?
However, an interesting name which has been doing the rounds is Tottenham Hotspurs manager Ange Postecoglou.
The Aussie coach is reported to be a Liverpool fan and has been in consideration for the LFC job.
The former Celtic manager has impressed the PL with his tactics and attacking style of football, prompting the Reds to take him into account.
Even though Postecoglou has made it clear that he would not leave the North London club right now, speculations have not stagnated.
While speaking on BeIN Sports, former Red Jason McAteer expressed about his liking for the Spurs boss. So much so that he would like to pay £50M to appoint him as the Anfield manager.
“If you are Liverpool and you identify Postecoglou, would you pay £50m for him?
Would I pay it? Would I pay £50m? Yeah I probably would.”
