As Jurgen Klopp prepares to depart Liverpool, Ruben Amorim emerges as a frontrunner, but other options are also being considered.
According to recent reports, Liverpool FC are in the middle of a crucial decision-making process as they seek to secure a successor for their manager, Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp, who announced his departure earlier this year, has sparked a lot of speculation regarding who may fill his shoes at Anfield.
The current manager of Sporting Lisbon, Ruben Amorim, has emerged as a front-runner for the Liverpool position among the names making the rounds in the managerial rumours.
Described as ‘one of the best’ by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Amorim has drawn attention for his tactics and impressive achievements with Sporting CP.
Recent reports indicate that meetings have taken place between Liverpool and Amorim’s agent, Raul Costa, signalling the club’s serious interest in securing the Portuguese coach.
There are talks that Amorim is prepared to make the move to Merseyside, although he remains focused on Sporting’s ongoing campaign and their pursuit of multiple trophies.
Many discussions are going on regarding how Amorim’s coaching style and expertise and his possible impact on the team.
Amorim’s familiarity with Liverpool’s players, particularly Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, whom he previously faced in Portuguese football, may bode well for the Reds.
However, we must keep in mind that, Amorim is not the sole candidate under consideration by Liverpool’s hierarchy.
While Amorim remains the front-runner, other options such as Roberto De Zerbi, currently at Brighton, are also being explored.
Journalists on Amorim to Liverpool Possibility
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano wrote in his CaughtOffside column,
“Again, I keep repeating I’m not aware of any contacts between Roberto De Zerbi and Liverpool – at least not so far. It’s completely quiet on that one.
On Ruben Amorim, he remains the main name on Liverpool’s list for the role – but he is not the only one. Nothing is done or decided yet.
Liverpool are still discussing the situation internally but they have made contact to be aware of Amorim’s situation, as reported days ago.”
But according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Liverpool have begun negotiations to bring Amorim to Anfield in the summer. Aouna wrote on X:
“Talks continue between Raul Costa, the agent of Ruben Amorim, and Liverpool Ruben Amorim is prepared to join Liverpool.
The Reds are leading the race to sign the Portuguese Coach Amorim is now focus to win all the trophies with Sporting.”
According to his Foot Mercato article,
“According to our information, the young 39-year-old tactician is in demand. He has a clause of 20 million if a foreign club wants to offer him.
This clause increases to 30 million if a Portuguese competitor wants to recover it. Liverpool have already started discussions with the agent of the Portuguese coach, who is also that of Luis Diaz, Reds player.
Ruben Amorim is interested in this project but wants to concentrate on the end of the season with Sporting. But he remains Liverpool’s number one choice.”
