Former Manchester City player Leroy Sane has been linked to a return to the Premier League with Liverpool, with his Bayern contract set to expire.
The German’s current contract at Bayern Munich is set to expire in 18 months. Although the Bundesliga record champions are keen on keeping the winger, Sane looks to have put his eye for a Premier League return.
Sane could make a PL return with Liverpool
Liverpool continue to look for Salah’s replacement, with Leroy Sane being one of the contenders. However, the German club are keen on keeping the German international in the Bundesliga.
The winger has scored 9 goals and has 9 assists in all competitions for the 2020 treble winners. But his contract will expire in 18 months. Bayern are keen to tie him down to fresh terms to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena.
Previously, the winger seemed sure of extending his stay at the Allianz Arena. But now things have appeared to have changed. There have been doubts growing that Sane might look at other options in the summer.
As per BILD, Sane wants to wait until this summer’s Euros before deciding on his club’s future. If he enjoys a successful tournament, several suitors are expected to show interest in the winger.
That would make a possible extension more expensive for Bayern Munich to complete. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund has already approached Sane’s agents to secure an extension, though it appears he will have to wait.
The Reds to sign ex-Man City winger?
The former Manchester City man has had a brilliant season with Bayern. Despite the growing rumours around his club’s future, he is trying to focus on his club form.
“I’ve been pleased with my own performances recently, but I don’t like to give myself such superlatives. In any case I’ll do my best to make sure it continues this way until the end of the season.
The pressure at a club like FC Bayern is much too high to be able to rest on your own performances. On top of that, there’s still a long way to go this season. Up to now it’s gone quite well.
But I also want to be on it when we head into the crucial period in the Champions League and the league in the spring. I have very high demands of myself there, which I always want to meet, just like the demands of my coach.”
Sane told while speaking to Bayern’s website.
