As per the latest reports, Liverpool are in direct talks with OGC Nice for Khephren Thuram and it is reported to be progressing well.
Thuram has seemingly been one of the Reds’ key targets this summer. Reports after reports have linked him with a move to Anfield.
But after a flurry of activity some weeks ago, the trail has gone a little cold. Now, journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed that it could be about to change.
Taking to Twitter today, Galetti claimed that after personal terms with the player were agreed upon, Liverpool and Nice are now haggling over the fee.
Liverpool looking to seal the deal for Thuram
Liverpool might have a big breakthrough if they are discussing the fee for the player’s imminent move. With the reports suggesting that the personal terms have been agreed, the clubs would not have any problem if a fee is agreed upon.
Moreover, a fee being discussed to be around €40/45m for the 22-year-old would be ideal for the Reds.
Up until now, there had been suggestions that the French side could demand as much as £50m to let Thuram go. As they ponder a £60m move for Dominik Szoboszlai, perhaps this would be a little on the steep side.
But for a fee under £40m, Liverpool could probably add Thuram and still have funds for another quality player.
Thuram himself was called ‘fantastic’ by former coach Didier Digard and he’d be a super signing. He would eventually be a player for the future as well as the 22-year-old could potentially serve Liverpool for many seasons to come.
Of course, nothing is done yet, though. Until we see Thuram at the AXA Training Centre in his new Liverpool kit, anything could happen. As for Szoboszlai, it looks like even more hurdles need clearing for him to be a Reds player, too.
So in the next weeks which is crucial for the Reds, we need to see what the Merseysiders could manage.
