Liverpool loanee Fabio Carvalho has struggled with few minutes with the Bundesliga club, RB Leipzig, and the Reds are considering other clubs to loan him to.
Liverpool are in talks with RB Leipzig to recall Fabio Carvalho in the January transfer window. The former Fulham youngster moved to Germany on a summer-long loan deal. Klopp wanted the youngster to gain first-team experience after he fell down the pecking order at Anfield.
The Portuguese started just one game for the Reds in 2023, an FA Cup tie away at Wolves in January. Moreover, he made only 4 of his 21 appearances for the Reds in the second half of last term.
Carvalho, who turned 21 in August, moved to Leipzig on a year-long loan deal during the pre-season. However, he has found game-time hard to come by in the German top flight. The attacking midfielder has just 145 minutes in the Bundesliga so far.
Liverpool agreed with Fulham early in 2022 to sign the versatile attacker at the end of 2021/22. A £5m sum was agreed, with a further £2.7m in add-ons and a 20% sell-on clause negotiated. He had a decent season with Fulham in the Championship, scoring 11 times and assisting 8 times.
Fabio Carvalho to return to Liverpool this January?
As per reports, Liverpool are in talks with the German club to cut short the player’s loan tenure and for him to return to Merseyside. Klopp is keen to get the youngster much-needed game-time elsewhere with new potential suitors during the transfer window.
Moreover, a starting position at Liverpool would be doubtful for the youngster. Klopp has Salah, Nunez, Diaz, Jota, and Gakpo competing for the forward spot.
Although Leipzig takes on Young Boys in the Champions League, it is doubtful that Carvalho will start.
