Former England and Reds forward has compared Liverpool star Mohamed Salah with action-hero Bruce Lee for his fitness and athleticism.
Modern football has transformed from a slow and individualistic play style into a fast-paced team game. For that reason, the fitness levels of every player must be at their peak to keep up with the pace.
For almost the past 10 years now the Merseysiders have been one of the fastest teams in the world and often called the ‘mentality monsters’ under Jurgen Klopp’s coaching.
And one of the fastest and fittest players in this team definitely has been Mohamed Salah. And a recent comment by Emile Heskey solidifies the claim.
Liverpool star Salah is like Bruce Lee
In an interview with The Mirror, the former Liverpool no. 8 passed his verdict on the pacey winger. While speaking about fitness and starting position in the current Reds team, Heskey said,
“It is tough. They will play a lot of games, they’re young lads anyway barring Salah who is like Bruce Lee anyway. If you did all of the tests you’d probably say he has the body of a 23-year-old anyway. They just have to understand they’re going to play the games.”
Whenever the fans can see Salah in any training clips, his physical fitness is always in top form. Even at the age of 31, the Egyptian international is one of the strongest and most energetic players this current squad has.
The question that still remains is whether he would be able to maintain this level of fitness and form for much longer. But the question can be put to bed for now.
Salah is a perfectionist, his work ethic is better than almost anyone in the team. Even though he is at the peak of his form, the question of his standard dropping can be put to bed for the next couple of years.
The Reds attacker still has many more years left in him and prove himself on the highest stage of football.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
