‘There’s a guy’: Don Hutchinson says £10m midfielder would be perfect for Liverpool

Former Red and BBC pundit Don Hutchinson suggested that Liverpool sign RB Leipzig midfielder Xaver Schlager in January.

An electrifying match on Saturday evening between Arsenal and the Reds ended up in a 1-1 draw. Both the teams had to share a point each, which did not change the point difference between these two sides.

The Gunners top the PL points table with 40 points after 18 games played so far, leading by only 1 point off the 2nd-placed Merseysiders.

Both teams had to start the match without many missing key players due to injuries. The winter transfer window will allow every team to bolster their ranks.

The Anfield giants have already started their due diligence to sign new players in January. However, Don Hutchinson thinks the English side should target one player.

While speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, the former Red said,

“Liverpool can’t win the league in my opinion if they don’t sign a specialised number six. Palhinha at Fulham, I think he’s amazing.

There’s a guy at Leipzig called Xaver Schlager, an Austrian guy, he’s amazing and very disciplined in his position.”

Without taking anything from him, Wataru Endo was a hurried summer signing after LFC could not sign any of their desired targets. So the club will want a long-term solution for the no. 6 position.
