Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo will miss several games in 2024 due to their nation’s participation in the AFCON and Asian Cup.
The Anfield giants emerged victorious in the mid-week clash against West Ham in a 6-goal thriller. The match ended with a 5-1 scoreline as the hosts annihilated the Hammers.
This game increased their confidence before the high-voltage match against Arsenal on Saturday evening. The main star of the game will, of course, be Merseyside star Mohamed Salah.
Even though the Egyptian will play in the weekend clash, his presence in future games is pretty doubtful. Earlier report had confirmed that the Reds will be missing Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo in the Carabao Cup semi-finals in January.
Moreover, the latest update ensures Salah will be missing Liverpool action for longer than that.
Salah and Endo to miss games for Liverpool in January 2024
The earlier speculation was that the 31-year-old forward would leave England after the FA Cup third-round game against the Gunners on January 7 as AFCON will start on January 13.
However, Liverpool confirmed that the Egyptian will be on his way to join his national team to train with them right after the PL game against Newcastle United on New Year’s Day.
This means the star attacker will be out for at least 4 games as Egypt’s group stage matches on January 22. But Salah’s side is expected to progress beyond the group stage, so he will certainly not be available until the middle of February.
Another regular starter for Klopp‘s side, Japanese skipper Wataru Endo, will also leave Anfield around the same time. He will be leading Japan in the Asian Cup and they are one of the favourites to win the tournament.
Liverpool have some important fixtures in that period, and the team have to play them without Salah and Endo.
An ardent football fan and a proud Red. I take immense pleasure in analyzing the intricacies of the game.
